Details
The Colorway
Tanzanite Swirl is our soft two tone pour. Cornflower blue runs into dusty mauve purple in vertical streaks, with a pearlescent shimmer under the polish so the color shifts as the wheel turns. Because every batch is hand mixed, one wheel in a set usually lands mostly mauve with a blue ring around the rolling face while the other three read predominantly blue. We blend the urethane ourselves and cast and cut each wheel in New York.
What is the Geode Series
Geode wheels are cast from translucent and layered urethane blends, so each wheel has visual depth like a cross section of stone. They ride at 77D, firm and fast, and every set pours slightly differently.
Bearings and the Bearing Pocket
ABEC-9 bearings are shielded and greased, so they run smooth and completely silent. They don't free spin the way Ultraspin bearings do; in actual riding they're extremely responsive with a very free roll. The Bearing Pocket is a custom lock cast into the wheel that stops the bearing backing out unless you use a bearing press, so you can run the locknut fully tight without binding the roll.
Blend and Cast
Every Apex wheel in our urethane line is made in New York. We blend our own custom compounds and pour each wheel, the wheels are precision cut here in NY, and we press the bearings and pack every set in our Rochester shop.
Care
- Soft urethane squeaks on slides. You want the squeak.
- Every wheel is poured on its own, so the four in your set won't match each other or the photo exactly.
- Don't soak the bearings. Water and cleaner strip the lubricant.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Geode Series?
Geode wheels are cast from translucent and layered urethane blends, so each wheel has visual depth like a cross section of stone. They ride at 77D, firm and fast, and every set pours slightly differently.
What is the D scale? How does it compare to skateboard wheel hardness?
We measure our compounds on the Shore D scale, which suits small cast wheels better than the skateboard A scale. As a reference point, our softest 61D rides like a 101A skateboard wheel; higher D numbers are harder and faster.
Why don't my wheels match the photo exactly?
Because they can't. Each set is poured by hand, and the pattern lands differently on every wheel, so your four wheels won't match each other or the photo exactly. That's the point of a hand poured colorway: no one else has your set.
Do these fit all fingerboard trucks?
Yes. Apex wheels mount on standard fingerboard axles with no modification and fit all major trucks, including 29mm through 36mm and wider setups.
What comes in a set?
Four wheels with bearings already pressed in, a capped storage tube, and a Teak Tuning sticker. Deck and trucks aren't included.
Are Apex wheels made in the USA?
The urethane Apex line is made in New York: we blend our own custom compounds and pour each wheel, the wheels are precision cut in NY, and we press the bearings and pack every set in our Rochester shop. The bearings are the one imported component.
What does the Teak Guarantee cover?
Replace or refund within 90 days of delivery for anything that arrives damaged or defective, or breaks in that window. Contact Teak Tuning with a photo, and see the full policy on our Teak Guarantee page.
