Monument Crete is Teak Tuning's line of solid cast stone fingerboard obstacles: parking curbs, ledges, waves, stairs, loafs, lowboy kickers, and jersey barriers that ride and wear like polished concrete. Every piece is poured, cured, and finished by hand in Rochester, NY, solid all the way through, with the heft of a small monument and a surface that scuffs into a street patina the more you ride it.
About Monument Crete
What Is Monument Crete?
Monument Crete is our own cast stone: a polymer gypsum composite reinforced with glass fiber, the Yeti hair of shop legend, hand poured in small batches in Rochester, NY. Pick a piece up and the first thing you notice is the weight. Every one is solid stone all the way through, no hollow core, and the surface rides like polished concrete: smooth, hard, and fast under a wheel. That's why the line is called Monument: each piece is made the way a monument is made, poured into a mold, cured, and finished by hand. Riding one feels like grinding the polished granite base of a statue in a city park, minus the security guard.
The V2 Generation
V2 is the second generation of Monument Crete, and more than the mix changed. The pour carries more glass fiber for tougher edges and corners, the molds are upgraded materials that cast a finer, cleaner surface, and the Sterling Gray pigment is slightly updated. The whole current line is V2.
The Line
The Parking Curb is the piece that lives out on the desk, the two-tier Ledge covers two heights on one obstacle, the Wave handles transitions, and the Big Slab and Stoop anchor flat tricks. The Jersey Barrier locks end to end into a continuous wall, the Lowboy kickers add lift in two heights, and the Bread and Banana loafs bring the rounded street furniture every real plaza has. One scale across the line, so pieces connect into parks.
Originals Selling Through
A few first generation pieces are still available under "Original" listings while stock lasts. They ride the same, in the earlier dimensions and pour, and once they're gone the line is all V2.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this real concrete?
Technically no, but that's a materials science answer, not a how-it-feels answer. Monument Crete is a cast polymer gypsum composite reinforced with glass fiber, and in your hand you'd be extremely hard pressed to tell it from polished concrete: the same density, the same cool surface, the same way it scuffs into a patina. The differences show up where you want them: it casts finer detail than a real pour, and the glass fiber makes the edges tougher.
Are the obstacles solid or hollow?
Solid cast stone all the way through, no hollow core. Weights run from 6.4 oz for the Parking Curb to nearly 2 lb for a loaf, and that mass is what keeps each piece planted when you ride it.
What does V2 mean?
V2 is the second generation of Monument Crete: more glass fiber in the pour for tougher edges, upgraded mold materials that cast a finer surface, and a slightly updated Sterling Gray pigment. Original pieces are selling through under separate Original listings, and V2 is the line going forward.
Do the pieces work together?
Yes. Everything is cast to one scale, so curbs, loafs, kickers, and barriers line up into parks, and Jersey Barriers have molded alignment keys that lock multiple barriers into one continuous run.
Will they damage my desk or table?
Every obstacle ships with a sheet of non-slip foam tape for the base, which keeps it planted and protects the surface under it. The pieces are dense, so don't drop them on hard floors.
Do they fit all fingerboards?
Yes. These are open riding surfaces scaled for standard fingerboards, so deck width doesn't matter: narrow old school decks, 32mm and 34mm standards, and 36mm and wider shapes all ride the same obstacles.
