About Us

We started Teak Tuning in 2014 to build the fingerboard gear we wanted to ride. We began with tuning. More than a decade later the goal is bigger than parts: make fingerboarding something anyone can get into, with gear that's genuinely good, actually in stock, and priced so you can start today.

We started with tuning

Bushings, o-rings, pivot cups. The small unglamorous parts nobody puts on a poster, and the ones that decide how a board actually feels under your fingers. We went deep on it early, in durometers most of the industry didn't bother to offer, and our Pro Duro bubble bushings are still some of the best you can put in a truck.

Tuning is still the deepest part of our catalog. It's just not the whole story anymore.

What we're trying to do now

Fingerboarding should be easy to get into. That means gear you can afford, in stock when you want it, and no need to know the right person to find the good stuff.

So that's what we build toward. We design and manufacture in Rochester, New York, every order ships from our shop here, and the range now covers completes, decks, wheels, trucks, tuning, tape and obstacles.

Actually good

Gear we ride ourselves. If it doesn't hold up under us, it doesn't go on the site.

Priced to get in

A real setup shouldn't be a hundred dollar decision. There's a way in at every price point, and it's not a worse product, just a simpler one.

Out the door in a day

Orders ship within one business day, free over $50, and we'd rather tell you something is out of stock than pretend it's coming.

Looked after

Something breaks or goes missing, we fix it. A person reads your email, not a ticket queue.

Session is that same idea at the top end.

Our premium line, made here in Rochester: wooden obstacles with acrylic and steel coping, and decks built to a higher spec. Making something premium is the easy part. Making something premium that a normal person can still afford to own is the actual exercise.

We're not the only brand on this site

That's on purpose. Fingerboarding is a small world, and it's a better one when more than one company is making good things.

So we stock more than fifteen other brands next to our own, including people who make things we don't make and, in some cases, make them better than we would. If you've found us through one of them, welcome. If you make something and want it here, tell us about it.

The parts that aren't products

The Design Contest

Riders submit deck graphics, the community votes, and the winners get produced and sold. Real boards, real names on them.

Guides, not gatekeeping

The fingerboard dictionary and our start here guide, free and open, because nobody should have to know somebody to learn the basics.

Zines and magazines

Print isn't dead in fingerboarding. We carry the zines other people make, because somebody should.

Events and the team

We sponsor events and back a team of riders who have put in the years, not just the edits.

What that looks like in practice

If we get it wrong, we fix it.

The Teak Guarantee covers anything broken, defective, lost in transit, or not what the page said it was, for 90 days after it arrives. No receipt archaeology, no arguing.

A few specifics we hold ourselves to. Free shipping thresholds that apply to everything, including the bulky obstacles most shops quietly exclude. Import duties covered on consumer orders, so an international customer isn't ambushed at the door. And honest stock information instead of a permanent "coming soon."

We're not perfect at any of it. But when we miss, we'd rather hear from you than not.

Where else you'll find us

This isn't the only place to buy Teak. Part of making fingerboarding accessible is being somewhere near you, whichever way you already shop.

Skate shops across the US

Independent shops carry us nationwide. See who is near you on the list of shops.

Zumiez

In stores and online, so you can pick a board up somewhere you already go.

Amazon

The full range on Prime, if that's simply how you prefer to buy. Visit our Amazon store.

Faire

Wholesale buyers can order us through Faire, or apply directly for an account with us.
