Choosing Apex Wheels
Durometer
The D number is hardness. 61D is our softest urethane, equivalent to a 101A skateboard wheel: maximum grip, quiet ride. 65D ATP sits between soft and hard with the sharpest swirl casts. 71D is the all rounder most riders settle on. 77D runs faster with quicker slides, and 85D is the hard, fast end of the range.
Shape
New Street is the standard street profile. Shorty is our 6.6mm mini for a lower, locked in feel. Globe is a full sphere with no flat contact patch, so the ride changes as you lean. Cruiser Bowl rides a rounded 8.7mm profile, and Slim Bowl trims that to 7.5mm. Geode wheels are translucent layered pours with visual depth.
Bearings
Ultraspin bearings free spin long and loose, the classic fingerboard feel. ABEC-9 and ABEC-9 Stealth are shielded and greased: silent, smooth, and responsive. Every wheel carries the Bearing Pocket, a cast-in lock that lets you run the locknut fully tight without binding the roll.

What does the D on fingerboard wheel hardness mean?
We measure our compounds on the Shore D scale, which suits small cast wheels better than the skateboard A scale. As a reference point, our softest 61D rides like a 101A skateboard wheel; higher D numbers are harder and faster.
Which Apex wheels should a beginner start with?
61D or 71D urethane in the New Street shape. 61D grips like a real skateboard wheel and rides quiet; 71D is the all round middle of the range. Harder wheels trade grip for speed and slide.
Are Apex wheels made in the USA?
Yes. We blend our own custom compounds and pour the urethane line in New York, the wheels are precision cut in NY, and every set is pressed and packed in our Rochester shop. ATP wheels are cast in the USA to our spec. The bearings are the one imported component.
Why don't my wheels match the product photo exactly?
Swirled, marbled, and gradient colorways are poured by hand, so the pattern lands differently on every wheel. Your four wheels won't match each other or the photo exactly, and that's the point: no one else has your set.
Do Apex wheels fit all fingerboard trucks?
Yes. Apex wheels mount on standard fingerboard axles with no modification and fit all major trucks, including 29mm through 36mm and wider setups.
What does the Teak Guarantee cover?
