Details

The Colorway
Elderberry is a straight medium royal blue, even edge to edge on all four wheels, matte, with no marbling and no sparkle in it despite the berry name. We would rather tell you that up front than have it arrive as a surprise. It's the darker of our two blues in this 77D New Street set, and the deeper tone stays looking clean longer than the pastels do once you start grinding real concrete.

What does 77D mean
77D is one step harder than our all round 71D. Lower friction, quicker off the push, and a faster slide, which makes it the pick for ledge work and speed over grip.

Bearings and the Bearing Pocket
Ultraspin bearings are our free spin bearings: unshielded and dry, so the wheel spins long and loose off a flick. They're the classic fingerboard feel. The Bearing Pocket is a custom lock cast into the wheel that stops the bearing backing out unless you use a bearing press, so you can run the locknut fully tight without binding the roll.

Blend and Cast
Every Apex wheel in our urethane line is made in New York. We blend our own custom compounds and pour each wheel, the wheels are precision cut here in NY, and we press the bearings and pack every set in our Rochester shop.

Care

  • Soft urethane squeaks on slides. You want the squeak.
  • The face burnishes where it wears. The color stays, the texture smooths out.
  • Don't soak the bearings. Water and cleaner strip the lubricant.

Teak Guarantee
All Apex wheels are backed by the Teak Guarantee, which covers items that arrive damaged, defective, or that break within 90 days of delivery: we replace or refund. Reach out with a photo of the issue. Full guarantee details.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 77D mean?
77D is one step harder than our all round 71D. Lower friction, quicker off the push, and a faster slide, which makes it the pick for ledge work and speed over grip.

What is the D scale? How does it compare to skateboard wheel hardness?
We measure our compounds on the Shore D scale, which suits small cast wheels better than the skateboard A scale. As a reference point, our softest 61D rides like a 101A skateboard wheel; higher D numbers are harder and faster.

Do these fit all fingerboard trucks?
Yes. Apex wheels mount on standard fingerboard axles with no modification and fit all major trucks, including 29mm through 36mm and wider setups.

What comes in a set?
Four wheels with bearings already pressed in, a capped storage tube, and a Teak Tuning sticker. Deck and trucks aren't included.

Are Apex wheels made in the USA?
The urethane Apex line is made in New York: we blend our own custom compounds and pour each wheel, the wheels are precision cut in NY, and we press the bearings and pack every set in our Rochester shop. The bearings are the one imported component.

What does the Teak Guarantee cover?
Replace or refund within 90 days of delivery for anything that arrives damaged or defective, or breaks in that window. Contact Teak Tuning with a photo, and see the full policy on our Teak Guarantee page.
